BaoWow!

Inspired by the traditional bamboo steamer, we have created a circular box with a contemporary touch – upon lifting the lid of the box, an array of 12 customized crystal magnets capture one’s attention as they sit in a circular fashion on the top tier, with a die-cut in the center revealing the title of the notebook beneath. Matching infographics provides detailed introduction and pronunciation of each of the 12 “Bao” (which means “Buns” in Mandarin) in the notebook enclosed, whereas dotted pages encourage self-documentation.

Visual/Senses

This exhibition catalogue not only captures with tenderness the texture of decorative elements of traditional Chinese temples in glorious black and white, but also the scent of a temple. It is printed with special aroma ink to recreate the atmosphere of a temple. Through visual lens, the forgotten, the ordinary and the archaic are given stature in this catalogue. It invites readers to take a second look at the overlooked and be engaged through the senses of sight and smell as memories are evoked; new possibilities are imagined and personal connections are explored.

The colourful exhibition identity is created in the spirit of the pavilion, using the graphics from the inside of the pavilion and a custom designed font.

Kaleido Mall

The Kaleido Mall provides numerous entertainment venues, including shopping mall, a pedestrian street, and an esplanade. In this design, the designers used patterns of a kaleidoscope, with loose, colored objects such as beads or pebbles. Kaleidoscope is derived from the Ancient Greek kalos (beautiful, beauty) and eidos (that which is seen). Consequently, diverse patterns reflect various services. Forms change constantly, demonstrating that the Mall strives to surprise and fascinate visitors.
